Enjoy a Saturday afternoon/evening with your friends from the MIT Club of San Diego and the MIT Enterprise Forum. We will be watching the $2 Bill Documentary followed by family style Italian dinner from Buca di Beppo. Popcorn and other theater concessions will be available for purchase.
While some believe that $2 bills are no longer made, they are alive and well. In this comprehensive and entertaining documentary, learn all about “the deuce” from its history to its many superstitions, the way it’s perceived and used in society, and even some incredible stories about the ways it connects people. If you’ve ever had a $2 bill in your hands and wondered anything about it, this is the film to see.
Film Director John Bennardo was interviewed on the popular NPR program Weekend Marketplace in September, 2016. He discussed the film and some of the behind-the-scenes activities that made the film happen. The film includes interviews with MIT Sloan faculty member, Chris Noe, and MIT Sloan alumnus, Erik Mintz. Erik is an Associate Producer of the film and will be flying in from Florida to attend this event! He’ll field questions and perhaps tell us some behind-the-scenes stories.

ERIK MINTZ, ASSOCIATE PRODUCER
Erik earned an M.B.A. from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. Mintz has twenty-six years of experience in the software industry. He spent the first eleven years of his career with IBM.
In late 2000, he founded his own software company, e2M Systems, which was acquired by Constant Contact in 2008. He worked for eight years with Constant Contact as Director, Market Intelligence. Mintz is now CEO of his second start-up called DealCoachPro Inc.
While at MIT, Mintz had a fascinating experience with $2 bills in an Economics class, which prompted him to begin researching the currency. He published an article called “What is Special About a $2 Bill?” Through this article, he came in contact with director John Bennardo and was subsequently interviewed for the film. Since childhood, Mintz has had a fascination with the $2 bill — so much so that he signed on as Associate Producer. The film includes data from his research, and to a large extent is structured around the information that he provided.
